Roof It Forward Case Study: The Importance of Chimney Inspection
The Challenge
Your home's chimney set is at the highest point of your home which makes it very vulnerable to damage. It is always a good idea to have your chimney inspected when you have your roof replaced. In this situation, when we were performing a routine inspection on this home we noticed rotting issues with the siding. It was also observed that the chimney chase contained no subsiding sheathing such as plywood or OSB. The framing members were also found to be improper for the height of the chimney.
The Solution
Roof It Forward put a plan in place to correct the framing, install subsiding, house-wrap and new cement board siding and outside corners. All the roof to wall flashing around the chimney chase was replaced and the siding was caulked and painted to match the home's exterior color.
