ARAC Roof It Forward Case Studies: Roof Leak Repair in Zionsville, IN
The Challenge
This client called because they were experiencing leaks from the aluminum ridge vent on the top of their home. The ridge vent had been lifted due to severe wind storms. When installed by most roofing companies, a standard roofing nail is used. Although this nail is typically a little longer in size - it will eventually work loose due to the winds rocking the vent back and fourth.
The Solution
Roof It Forward straightened out any of the slight bends in the aluminum ridge vent. Then the team installed screws, with a wood grabber tip and a neoprene rubber washer, into the vent through the plywood. Once this was completed they installed a '50 year' silicone over this rubber washer screw. Finally, they caulked the entire ridge vent with the same '50 year' sealant on both sides of the ridge vent for nice tight, dry seal.
