ARAC Roof It Forward Case Studies: Spaces Between Roof Decking Boards

The Challenge

This roof had a history of wind removing shingles. After further inspection it was discovered that the shingles were blowing off from the roof due to large gaps in the roof decking boards. The existing decking was comprised of 1x6 boards not sheathing.

The Solution

ARAC received funding from the insurance provider to code and upgrade the replacement of boards to close off the gaps. The replacement boards covered about 60 percent of the roof surface and was all funded by the insurance provider for both labor and materials.
